Will 3:07 gears be ok
Will a 3:07 rear-end be sufficient for a 3/4 ton with a 383/th350 combo?
Not sure on the exact hp and ft lbs of torque I'm running. It currently has a 12 bolt with 4:11 but im looking into a 5 lug conversion and a fellow board member has a 10 bolt 5 lug set up but it has 3:07 Thanks in advance for the advice blessings Ryan G

Re: Will 3:07 gears be ok
Ryan,
I usually run 3.07 ratios in my trucks with generic 350 engines and TH350 trans. So, I'm sure your stroker engine is going to do even better than mine do. It's a great combination for realistic highway driving without the expense of an overdrive trans swap. Just be sure to keep your tire height under 30 inches or so, preferably about 28 inches. Tall tires kill the gears even more.

Re: Will 3:07 gears be ok
its going to feel like a dog compared to what you have. Moser made my axles for 300 bucks with the car bolt pattern and they are 40%stronger than oe. you can get drums for about 50 each napa drums ending in pt # 1060 and your 12 bolt is alot stronger than a 10. by the time you do every thing to put the car rearend in it will be about the same coin but the 12 is a better rear.

Re: Will 3:07 gears be ok
He said he has a 3/4 ton so he doesn't have a 12 bolt. He'll have either a Dana or an Eaton rearend. Swapping axles and drums aren't an option for him.

Ah slight overlook i dont thik id want a 10 bolt in a 3/4 or anything for that matter. They can make axles for any setup dont know that there is a direct swap drum but redrilling the oe should not be very expensive.
