This past summer I put a K& N fresh air intake on my 99 Cop Tahoe with the 255 hp 5.7 Vortec. Well I just got back form a trip to California and back and my gas mileage was up 2 1/2 miles per gallon over when I bought the truck in 2008 and drove it home from California with the stock set up on it. The truck also has a little more power and when a real nice sound you walk on it. If anyone is considering one of these systems I highly recommend them.

talking about the 502? yeah I think that waved goodbye long ago haha. I wonder the difference betwwen this kit and just flipping the cleaner lid is... better filter? taller allowing more air?

Thank you. I've had a lot of vehicles over the years and this is the one I enjoy driving the most, as its designed for Highway driving.

Ummm completely different fuel injection and air intake setup then the TBI your thinking of. There is no air cleaner lid.

I would be flat out amazed if I could get that kind of gain in my 98, but with two sportbikes in back and still getting 22mpg I just don't see it happening.

So just what was the mpg Greg?
You might could gain 1 more mpg switching to an electric cooling fan.
