I've done it (texture) on stuff & liked the results. Wheels obviously are a different ballgame....

Agreed. I couldn't pass for the price compared to similar styles. A little money and a little time seems to be easier to come by than lots of either...

Yeah, we'll see. Back up plan involves TIG and sandblasting. Trying to KISS- and cheap-ish...
