fleetside Bumper
I'm looking for a nice used fleetside bumper to paint for my 1966. Not chrome, and I see one on Craiglist but the guy does not know the if it came off a fleetside or a step side. Does any one here know the difference in length between the Two. And also do they both take the same mounting brackets?.

Re: fleetside Bumper
Does the step side bumper not wrap around the sides? Is there the center indentation for the license plate mount?

Re: fleetside Bumper
I don't know about the later series, but earlier, were the brackets for a stepside just flat steel bent and the fleetside brackets C shaped? Not the same part numbers according to the book.

Re: fleetside Bumper
the step side bumper wraps around on the sides. They both have the license plate indentation. I don't know about the position of the bracket holes but I think they are different sense the brackets are different. a step side bumper will not fit on a fleet side. post a pic of the bumper he is selling and we can tell you if it is step or fleet.

Re: fleetside Bumper
X2...the stepside rear bumpers have a wrap around design on the ends. They require a different bracket set than the fleetside bumpers.

Re: fleetside Bumper
I was surprised that no one makes a plain steel repop rear bumper. I plan on using one as well, painted white and if no used one can be found I guess a chomed one will get stripped!

Re: fleetside Bumper
I learned this lesson the hard way when I made the swap from step to fleet side. I had a perfect chrome stepside bumper, you should have seen my face when I went to bolt it up after putting the fleetside bed on. Lucky for me I had an original steel bumper in the back yard (one of those parts ya pick up even though you know you don't need it) that happened to be from a fleetside.

Re: fleetside Bumper
I have wondered about the new primered bumpers. Are they as flimsy as the new Chromed ones?

Thanks, I did find this 60-62 primed rear bumper. Wouldn't this work on a 63?
