I can get these calipers cheap and they work great. If I use the LS1 rotors and calipers how can I adapt them to these trucks? Where can I get the hub? Will I need to machine the hub to match the LS1 rotors? I already did the swap on my 68 firebird and they are awesome. Trying to save money and rather do all the machining myself. Please let me know.

Look at www.flynbye.com. He makes brackets to adapt F-body, Corvette, and other brakes to traditional spindles. You will not see much gain out of using the LS1 brakes on our trucks, as the rotors are basically the same size, but may see some from the dual piston calipers. Upgrading to a C5 or C4HD rotor would be a good idea, if you're gonna do it. This is one of those mods I have been keeping in the back of my mind for when I finally had wheels big enough to clear them, which I do now. Hmmmmmm...

If you 'must-have' an easy, cheap-ish, dual piston set-up, bolt-on the Wilwood D52's & forgettaboutit.

I tried to put LS1 brakes on my truck. With a stock style rotor, it is a no go.

The caliper cage (for lack of a better work) will hit the inside of the rotor and you would have maybe 1/3 of the pad in contact with the rotor.

So, I went with POL dual piston aluminum calipers.....pretty much bolt on deal.

A big brake (13" or greater) swap might be worth the work.

If the swap is just the LS dual piston caliper & OE LS1 12" rotor, I don't see where the benefit is vs. what will bolt-on in place of the OE caliper.

I just assumed the LS1 brakes would be much better than standard truck disc brakes. What would be a good priced kit for the front?

Stock LS1 brakes are 12" rotors that are thinner vs. the OE 71-87 HD/1.25" thick rotors. These things are prone to warping on f-bodies; that won't improve on these trucks.

I don't have the specs in front of me but I recall the D52 HD style single-piston caliper had equal or more piston compression area than the LS1's smaller dual-piston calipers.

I believe the Wilwood D52 dual piston swap calipers have larger pistons (like late model truck calipers). They also would bolt right in place of the current caliper & would utilize the HD (thicker) truck rotor.

The LS based stuff is easier to use when going to 13" or greater diameter rotors w/the larger, matching calipers. Way2lo2 sells kits like these as does CPP.

Have you talked to kore3.com the smallest they use is the standard c5 corvette brake its a tiny bit bigger then the ls1 ones and a lot better option.

I have a set. The pricing is similar to what Way2lo2 & CPP offers. As far as I know, KORE-3 does not offer a LS1/12" set-up.

Like i said they have a c5 set up which is a little bigger 13 inch vs a 12 inch the calipers are close in size too.
