its too high to me. more than likely they are rejects from the factory. I would rather fix good used ones then pay $425.00 each. Just my opinion. If you are rich I say go for it I used the repops on 2 off my trucks and even though they need some masaging it did not add up to the cost.

new repos. go for 300-350 a set. probably not as good though- I guess it depends on the value of the truck your putting them on and how much extra dough you have to spend.

you can use the american made repair panels to fix the originals and if you do them correct, (thats the key) you won't be able to tell. a lot less than spending a ridiculous high price. the factory fenders were not that good any way.

I don't want to side track his thread, but who makes the american patch panels, and where can you order them?

$850 for a set of nos fenders is not that bad.you have to weigh wether or not the truck you are putting them on deserve them though.if i had a truck that needs a ton of rust repair i would not install them,but if my truck was mostly rust free i would go for it.all of the aftermarket fenders i have seen are crappy looking up front in the headlight eyebrow.who wants to buy new repro fenders and then do a ton of work to them to get them looking good.if i were building a truck that was going to be driven and enjoyed i would repair the original gm fenders with new lower panels(don't forget to drill drain holes in the bottom after repairing them so they won't rust out again)and save that money ($850)to put toward something else.that would buy several rust repair panels.good luck.

I'd look on Craigslist for trucks in the southwest to act as a parts vic if you need more than just fenders. You can get them for as much as you'll pay for just the fenders. Shipping will cost about 800 or so but then you'll have all the parts you may need to complete the build and spares to sell up north which may recoup some of your cost.....

after building 6 of these trucks in my shop I have come to the opinion that nos parts of this vintage are simply not worth the price people think they are worth. Let's face it, body gaps from the factory when our trucks were brand new were not perfect... They had a 10 millimeter tolerance that the factory deemed acceptable. I have used four sets of nos fenders in some of the builds and yes, they bolted right up but no, they did not fit "perfect" especially for the money that was paid for them. On my 61 apache I used goodmark fenders. I bought both for $400 and they honestly fit better than the nos ones. If you have "disposable" income buy the nos ones but if you want an honestly equal in quality, fit and finish I would say buy the good mark ones...just my opinion...

I just sold a set of NOS (gm authorized reproductions) front fenders for $900.00 and honestly It was only because I needed to.

They are very hard to come by and unless you get lucky with the aftermarket pieces you will spend at least that much trying to get the re-pops to fit properly. I have heard horror stories about fenders from various parts houses being up to 1/4" too short!

Bear this in mind, body panels will always need some fitment regardless of weather they came from the factory or not. The difference is how much time and money you will have to spend to get them to fit correctly!

These so called gm authorized fenders are made by the same companies that supply us, they are the same. Whom ever you sold them to over paid. you will see several GM part sites selling them

That's doubtful since I purchased the fenders from the individual who originally ordered them from a Chevrolet dealership in CT over 20 years ago.

Im sure you would like to believe they are the same quality as your so called american made reproductions but I doubt it.

As for what the person paid that is really his prerogative and im sure he wouldn't appreciate your condescension. Anyway who made you the authority!

If you have to ask the question then ...

My buddy is in the appraisal business and from what he recommends, document everything if your looking for a Restoration of value. Keep all the original labels,boxes and bills. The insurance companies will have a harder time to cut you down on a claim. If you buy let's say an original NOS fender, they have to pay out for it's replacement. If you have no documentation they can pay out for a cheap reproduction because you have no proof that it was an NOS. My 2 cents Canadian!
