Order of removing front body panels?

Ok I think that title sounds right ..?
In what order do you disassemble the front end?
Hood, then fenders or grille? Then what.
I want to remove both my front fenders, for some body work on them.
Thanks

Re: Order of removing front body panels?

I just removed the front clip off my '71 GMC saturday and this is what worked for me.
1:Cowl panel
2:grille
3: bumper
4:fenders
5: inner fenders
6:radiator support
It seems as if one thing leads to another when taking the front end apart on these trucks. You cannot get the fenders off with the bumper on, but you have to take the grille out to get to bumper bolts and the cowl panel has to come off becuase the fender bolts are under it!

Hope this helps!
Mike

hood, cowl, fenders. You dont have to remove the grill to remove the fenders.

I should of specified that I was taking the whole front clip off. Hell, there was only two bolts holding the grille in on my GMC after you removed all the fender bolts!!!

it is best to pull the whole front clip as a unit, that way you maintain your gaps and do not have to fight to align everything when you put it back on the truck. click on my build thread in my signature to see how i did it.
