Help on my "88 when its cold first start my truck smells rich wants to backfire?

So thought I had fixed this problem last spring but apparently not. With it getting cold at nights now when I first start it in the mornings wants to run ruff and backfire a few times then will idle normally. Anytime later on in the day I start it runs just completely perfect. Smells rich so to much fuel I am guessing is the problem. I put new plugs in last spring and new coolant sensor front of the intake on. Also put a new IAC motor on the TBI unit. I recently tightened up the headers and put TBI cleaner through it to clean it up. So I know the timings on cause we did that as well last spring. Would having weak back pressure on the exhaust or injectors going bad do this? Any input or help would be greatly appreciated I am at the end of my rope with it haha! Its an '88 chevy 350 TBI 5 speed 4x4 2500

Does this model year have a Mass Air Flow sensor? I work at a engine plant and our test benches do that when the MAF sensor is dirty.

No MAF sensor that I know of. Thanks though I got asked that by a few people already. I did a new o2 sensor didn't fix anything.

Does yours have the smog pump?
I could be the Air Injection Reaction System.
AIR valve will throw extra air into the exhaust to make the computer add more gas to warm up the vehicle, it's supposed to close at operating temp, but mine quit doing that. I just eliminated the system.
A thought...

Air is put into the exhaust at start up to heat up the cats faster. The ECM ignores the O2s at start up and goes to an enrichment table to warm the engine up. After reaching a predetermined temperature, the system goes into closed loop and refers to among other things, the O2s.

My money is on a leaking gasket that seals up as temperature rises. More precisely the 2 surfaces that are sealed by the gasket are expanding and sealing the gasket surface.
