69 Suburban rear air
Hi, I'm new to this board, it looks like a really killer site though.
I picked up a 69 2wd GMC Suburban a few months ago and am looking to install rear air in it. It is a factory air truck with the 4 season air option(front only), I rebuilt the system and converted it to 134 and it works great. I have researched the pieces needed for the rear air in the assembly manual and now am looking for parts to make it happen. I basically need the whole set up so if anyone knows where I can get these, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Jon |

Thank you for the reply, I live about 50 miles east of San Francisco. I would need everything, but would be interested in looking at any parts anybody has, if I have to mix and match to get everything ,thats ok.
Mine is a working 4 season system, so I would need the long ac hoses unless these can be made up easily, I'm unfamiliar with making ac hoses. Do you have to use the originals and hope for the best? they look pretty long in the assembly manual. I need the harness, rear evaporator/blower set up, dash switch and possibly the hose "T's" for tapping in the long rear lines. I would be pretty thrilled to be able to find a dash bezel with the "rear ac" written above the hole for the switch, but I'm not holding my breath on that deal. Thanks, Jon |

Yes, I'm looking forward to finding out also. It doesn't look like too bad to install, just a lot of crawlin around.

rear air
The one i have would only be for parts. The plastic tunnel pieces are cracked where they mount ot the ceiling. Good luck trying to find some that are'nt. You may want to try and find a 72' (unique to that year) rear air unit. I believe it is all self contained. Teeitup sold one of these awhile ago and it was quite a job to remove. The refrigeration hoses run along the frame and then come up through the rear door pillar and to the ceiling unit. I have also only seen these in the color white (or offwhite).

I've had 2 setups, one 72 all in the back and one 71 that runs the whole length of the burb. I liked the 72 setup better. They are a pain in the butt to take out, mostly the hoses. Off white is the only color I've seen. I got $400 and $350 out of my setups. Good luck Randy

I have also sold a couple of those. You do not want the rear system with that long ceiling tunnel...get the 72 style that came with "dual air". Make new hoses. Try to get a complete unit, not some parts or you will never get everything and look out for cracked housings. You can't get replacements.

Thanks for the replies so far. I am planning on looking for a 72 setup, that seems to be the best fit, I don't want that long tunnel on the ceiling. I have no experience in making up ac hoses could someone explain how to go about this?
If anyone has a 72 setup, I'm interested, how about a dash bezel (face) with the rear air option on it??Thanks |

4 season air in burb
I was under the understanding that air in burb was full roof tunnel up to 72 where they went to pickup style in dash plus the rear air unit. I have seen 2 69's on this board tonight with indash/4 season like pickups.
What is full story. Sounds like repro demand for burb rear air parts!! Put me down for some parts. I've seen a couple of custom blazers that added rear side vents branched off front lines for added comfort. Sounds like a near restification to burb!!

As far as I know all the suburbans with ac had it in the dash. I could be wrong. The rear ac in my suburban looks to be an aftermarket unit. I was thinking of trying to get a rear ac unit from a 73-91 suburban and seeing if it would fit in there. Those ones are also the self contained units (minus the hoses that go to the front).
