Re: Stepside Long bed c20 1979
Best advice is to look down south, preferably the southwest (Nevada, Arizona, etc.). They're pretty hard to come by, they weren't popular to begin with.

Re: Stepside Long bed c20 1979
Honestly, your best bet will be to bite the bullet and buy the new parts,at least the bedsides and steps (if those are available. These beds are rare and to find one at all is hard enough, let alone one in as nice of shape as you want. I don't know what part of the country you live in,but I never see them around here and I mean since they were new.

Re: Stepside Long bed c20 1979
only ever seen one in person myself which is why I'm building my own box sides and scrounged up a repairable set of steel fenders from a 75 short box the difficult part for me is trying to find the steps but I may just put Jerry can mounts there if I get that far along and haven't found any

Re: Stepside Long bed c20 1979
the only trucks i ever saw with long bed step sides were for a local utility company and those have been out of circulation for many years.. you will have a real tough time finding them used but hey on the internet you can find almost anything

Re: Stepside Long bed c20 1979
I saw the bed you replied to in the parts for sale section, if you go back and look at post #33 you will see he cut out the whole tailgate section of the bed. Might not be worth getting if he still has it. BTW Are you in Lafayette, LA, GA, IN, ???

Re: Stepside Long bed c20 1979
It wouldnt hurt to put a WTB ad on CL, HOU, NO, BR, SA. It would be worth the drive over buying new.

Re: Stepside Long bed c20 1979
You have to be a supporting member to do that here. If you go to Craigslist and put some Want to Buy ads/posts in places like Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, New Orleans, you might find one laying around. If you currently have a LWB fleetside, someone might be willing to trade. Ive seen quite a few LWB stepsides in TX.
