Re: 402 swap questions

Yes you can use the same torque converter and flywheel, you will need all the corresponding BB pulleys, alternator and power steering brackets with pump/hoses, engine towers, fan shroud etc.

Re: 402 swap questions

You'll need a BB power steering pump with remote resevoir and the pressure and return lines, also a 4 row radiator and shroud. Probably a 7 blade fan and spacer. If your serious start making a list and saving your $$. Check the parts forum for prices, with the parts we've already listed you're already looking at $500+

Re: 402 swap questions

Oh yea, if your running AC, brackets are another $200.
It takes commitment to go big...but there is nothing like the roar of a big block under the hood!

I'd say 500+++ Almost worth looking for a truck with the 402 in it and then part out or sell the truck w/out the engine in it....

Prices w/out shipping (what I've paid and seen them sell for)
71 BB Mounts 100-150
71 BB mount rubber 100-150
Or do the small block mount modification 50-100
PS setup (lines, reservoir, pump)200-250
Fan shroud 100-150
Clutch fan 50-75
4 core radiator 200-250
4 core brackets upper and lower 50-100
Pulleys 150-200
alt brackets 75-100
bb exhaust manifolds 200-250 (or headers)
bb heat shield for firewall 50

That's 1275 on the low end for the parts (1725 on the high end)....if you can find a setup for 500 I'd JUMP on that deal!

I just sold a set of restored 72 big block brackets, pulleys, and the ps setup for 975 locally....what I paid for them when I got them...

Re: 402 swap questions

You don't need those high-dollar AC pump brackets. I used a Sanden pump on mine and I went with the brackets that came with the retrofit kit. A lot cheaper.

Re: 402 swap questions

I have this setup

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=474873

I could keep the AC brackets and offer it up for less $$
