Am I seeing things? Firewall is lower on one side
Hey everyone! Just started in on my first build. It is a 1964 SWB. I just wrapped up putting discs up front and also 1" drop coils and 2" drop spindles.
Here is where the fun starts. Looking at the truck from the front, it look like the driver's side was lower then the passenger. Sure enough it is. I measured the rear coils and it appears my driver side is shorter by 3/4" or so. I am putting in 4" drops so this should clear this up, BUT Looking at my firewall, the drivers side is again lower. I measured each side of the firewall and it is about 1/2 or 3/4" lower on the driver side. Is this normal? I have attached a picture for you to "see for yourself." Let me know what you think! and thanks for your help! Pelase forgive me for some of my basic questions! Last edited by Goinlow64; 11-06-2011 at 03:38 PM. |

Re: Am I seeing things? Firewall is lower on one side
You'll find everyone here has a question to ask, simple or complicated. That's part of what this site is all about.
Level floor your working on? Measure from the same two reference points on each side of the cab down to the frame rails to see if your cab is the same height on both sides. Use a yard stick or something solid and mark it off. By the way your picture did not process all the way through.

Tried that again. I am measuring from the same reference point on each side to the same part on the cab. The cab is lower on the right side, but that it due to the rear coils and also the cab mounts need replaced. Let me know what you think. The picture should have come through this time
Thanks! |

Picture came through and changing out your cab mounts will help but you might need to shim your cab afterwards. Mine had to be shimmed.
