my new(to me)750$ 1982 swb stepside one owner!
Well i finally conned my moms friend into selling me the 1982 shortbed stepside she and her deceased husband bought brand new off the lot.
As its a one owner its fairly untouched. Factory it was a 6 cylinder with AC/4 speed, wooden bed.Everything still works like brand new, including the ice cold ac! the husband somewhere along the line dropped a new rebuilt(supposedly) 350 in it and put power steering on it.As well as ralleys and lowered it a good amount. MY PLANS- Restore interior-carpet,fiberglass and paint dash.led dash lights until i can afford pro comp guages. bucket seats with center console. all new rubber(seals tires etc etc etc.) new system subs etc. Drop the 4 speed out and install a 700r4(for the overdrive) pull and refresh the 350 fairly stock(exceptions of ignition carb intake and maybe a tame rv cam) 87-91(?) burban grille. remove rear bumper lower more. fresh pearl white paint with purple metallic and limo tint. new exhaust. When i decide to thouroughly start this ill make a build thread. heres pics as the truck sits! good deal for 750$?

Nice! I'd find the correct 82 grille for it and run it after you clean it up. Those front ends look mean, and they're really hard to find. Great stance too, you stole it for that price!

Re: my new(to me)750$ 1982 swb stepside one owner!
I'm sorry to hear about your job, with any luck you'll have an even better one than before soon. It seems to me like the blazer/suburban grille swap is getting to be overdone. I love the way the 81-82's look, it's so ugly that it's mean. I'd leave it as it is, front end wise (other than a factory grille). Love the way it sits though, that has a great stance already. Ever consider swapping in a 5 speed manual instead of a 700R4? I'm a fan of manuals myself, but automatics have their purpose. I would just imagine it would be easier to swap in another manual in your case, so you're not swapping pedal assemblies and steering columns and such (unless you go with a floor shifter).

Re: my new(to me)750$ 1982 swb stepside one owner!
i figured 700r4 cause its automatic,no need to mess with shifting every dam gear up and down, though it can be fun at certain times(when you wanna spin the truck in circles haha)..but im building it to drive to vegas and bak(250 mile round trip) and on other trips like that. The 700r4 would be a great convinience and a mildly stock motor would be better for gas mileage.Yea ill problly just get a nice floorshift.Hell why not.The stance will be a good debate for me to ponder on. It has a nice stance as it sits, but i may lower it a few more inches. Then its the debate on keeping the raleys or putting on my set of cragar ss's? ralleys are kinda in my favor.....Maybe ill swap the front clip with the clip off my '78 k10.

I like that idea. Use ralleys and the '78 front clip. It could go down another inch or two, but I'd watch going that far down in case your roads are as bad as ours.

That looks like a fun little truck. I love the shorty step bumper.
