How can I remove an auto trans cross member?

I'm trying to remove an auto trans cross member and kinda stuck on how to go about it. If anyone has any suggestions or hints I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Scott

I usually un-bolt and whack a few times on the passenger side end untill it pops out, it's a relativly tight fit but it does come out at an angle an in the same way.

Sledge Hammer one side front and one side to the back and it will come right out.

Yep, on the hammer method. Fun comes now that everything has been sandblasted and painted.....guess I'll just wait until the engine and transmission have been reconnected to place the crossmember and bolt it in place.

You'd think I'd have made a better note about which holes, huh?

Re: How can I remove an auto trans cross member?

Thanks guys.....its a parts truck that is hard to get at to swing a hammer.
Right now the whole thing slides when I hit it, guess I will have to get some help to work the other side at the same time.
