2 questions - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Kinda feel stupid asking but before I break something here goes. This is for my 1966 Chevy C10:
1. How do you get the horn ring off. Is it just pressed on. Will a decent tug pop it off. I've tugged but no go and didn't want it to snap. I want to change out the steering wheel
2. How to get the front brake drums off. I've had no problem with my 69-70 trucks. Drum comes right off or a few wacks and it's mine. Both my 66 Chev. and 66 GMC didn't give an inch. Thanks in advance

1. The center cap is held on with a metal clip that is riveted to the back of the center cap. Once you pop that off there are three screws that hold the ring on. If you are not careful popping it off the rivets will break. Here's a guy that will show you how to replace a turn signal switch.

2. Look carefully before you just go banging away. The drums are generally riveted to the hub. You might not see it on the outside of the drum. (flat countersunk rivet in tapered hole, covered in rust) But, you should sure see the big peaned tails of the rivets on the inside of the hub. Cut'em off and punch back through the drums. No problem. Good Luck!

in addition to fats comment, make sure you back off the shoes they may be held up on a ridge in the drum
