Anyone have pics?

Anyone have pics of the gauge cluster in our generation (mine is a 79) gauge clusters and the backs of them? My gauge lights don't work and I want to make sure that it's not just the ground or lack there of, and if I have to add the grounds on the cluster, where do they go?

I need to get this done ASAP, because I do a LOT of driving at night and need my gauge lights.

If anyone can help a youngin' out, I can't afford another ticket because my insurance keeps going up.

PLEASE HELP!

Re: Anyone have pics?

gauges work, you have ground to the cluster.. IF it is not a fuse or a fusable link, test one lamp, it could be the switch, the dim portion can go open and they are "on" just to dim to burn..

Re: Anyone have pics?

your year may not have a link, just follow the wire from the fuse panel back to the dash... here on this site is a complete wiring diagram that will help you locate the wires in question..

hot wire goes to the switch, then multiple wires come off, for head lights, tail lights and dash.. after the switch they go through the fuse panel.. test for 12v coming off the fuse panel.. i am still betting the switch.. jumper 12v to the output of the fuse panel toward the dash and if it is the switch, the dash lamps will work..

if your using a meter the wire coming off the switch should read 12 as the bright position and 8 or less at the low end... if your using a test lamp you will see the lamp dim as you turn the switch counter clockwise..

Re: Anyone have pics?

more 79 gauge pics are below,in the 78 sig link
putting a tach and gauge set in where idiots are now in the 78 from the 79
and i put an 88 cluster in the 79 for now
from what i see the newer 88 board should work ,
just no provision for the small gas gauge etc on the left
the 79 has the speedo clip on the plastic,88 on the metal speedo
