carburetor's on ls engines

just wanted to know if anyone doing a ls swap and going with carb before you all beat up on me, i'm not concerned with the mpg lost as this will be a weekend warrior not daily driver . just like the ls motors without all the electronics .

Re: carburetor's on ls engines

I was considering this option as well but couldn't find out if it worked on a LS2 setup from a trailblazer ss. Interested to hear.

Re: carburetor's on ls engines

MSD makes a stand alone harness to make it run with a carb.

Re: carburetor's on ls engines

I would just get the Edelbrock intake then get the MSD module. After doing some reading the module that comes with the Edelbrock kit has six chips and is made by MSD but with the edelbrock name on it, and if go with the actual MSD module with they have two different ones depending on the number of teeths on the ring on the crankshaft for the cranksensor, plus the two from MSD do not have chips instead u use a computer to tune it in how u want it. If you are not sure on which one you need just call MSD they can tell u which one to go with.

Re: carburetor's on ls engines

I'm running a carb on my 6.0 in a 1955 chevy sedan. A buddy of mine took the truck harness and eliminated all the unused wiring then he programmed the factory ecu to run the setup. If it needs tuned I take the car to him and he tunes the ecu. Works very well. I was skeptical at first but another friend is running low 9's with this setup on 400hp shot of nitrous. Good luck with the install.

Re: carburetor's on ls engines

Tons of people on here argued with me when i did mine. I did end up putting aftermarket efi on with the carb manifold but that is due to it moving up to daily driver status. If you do use the carb make sure you go large on the carb selection. I had a 670 and it was too small. Use the msd box. It has 6 different chips and if you dont like the chips you can use a computer to custom tune it. The edelbrock set up is not programable. Msd make 2 different boxes. 6010 is for 3rd gen motors and 6012 is for 4th gen motors. FAST also make a ignition controller now. It is a bit more tho.
