Do you have idiot lights or gauges..? is the plug for one of them. ( Temp ) should be a red and green wire if not mistaken...

Re: Help! Temperature guage question

Its all lights. And the plug has a dark green wire and a pink wire. From what I can tell on the 1960 wiring diagram I have the pink is just power because that same pink is used on the fuel gauge and on the oil light and Gen light. so im confused as crap right now.

Its for a 1960 apache 10

OK pink...the other is green, should be for the temp light, its on the left side of the panel as your looking at the gauges at the face.

Re: Help! Temperature guage question

Correct but is there something that plug should connect to? Those lights are missing on my harness or it looks like whatever that plugs into has to have those lights.

Re: Help! Temperature guage question

I`m assuming that the lights are gone... we have to have one of the guys post a pic of thier 60 gauge pod .....actually you should have a pink wire power, one light green cold side and one dark green hot side, the greens wires go to the sender.

Re: Help! Temperature guage question

Your wiring harness is for gauges and your speedo head assb. Is for lights. The first two pictures show the lights and socket and the third picture shows the gauge plug that you have.and they won't interchange.you will have to either go to gauges or change the ends on your harness.

Good luck!

Re: Help! Temperature guage question

Does the dark green cable from the sender carry the signal for both C and H? can i just cut it and splice another cable with a bulb for each as it looks in the picture? or does the sender have two lines coming out of it (dk green & lt green) or how do i do this?

Re: Help! Temperature guage question

Well, you have sending units on the engine for gauges, the wiring harness you are showing us is for gauges, but the cluster is for the lights. That cluster will never work with the sending units and wiring you have. The wiring you show in the first pic, what is that out of?

Re: Help! Temperature guage question

mine has a light for cold and another for hot , 2 bulbs ... if I get home from work tonight at a resonable hour I will confirm what one is which.......... if it has a cold and hot your temp sensor on the engine has 2 prongs not one ...But I suspect you need a gauge cluster.

Re: Help! Temperature guage question

bears63 is correct, you can go a couple of ways with this, the easiest is to find a cluster with gauges,if not,you could use a harness from a light set up and the plug (should) interchange under the dash on the column, but i dont know for a fact that they will and then you have to change all of your sending units on the engine. if you cant find a cluster with gauges p.m.me, i might have two of them available.

kent.

Re: Help! Temperature guage question

My trucks(one has gauges , one has idiot lights) shows that the connector with the dark green and pink wire is for temp gauge .. the lights would be wired as Rich said .. they have pink and green and pink and pale green (cold and hot lights) the L shaped connecter is for gas gauge and my amp gauge has been hacked so your on your own for that one , but I suspect it is the last one left over..LOL
