Between the cowl and the firewall is there an angled strip used to attach the pieces? Trying to plan out my cab repairs and I'm not sure if I'm seeing things or if this part comes with one of the replacement panels? Anybody know a link showing aftermarket panels used for this type repair?

Well, the pics are better than other ones I've seen for the cowl. My question is from the cowl there is a lip extending. From the lip there seems to be a 2"x2" angled piece that's attached to that lip that the firewall gets attached to forming a little valley so my truck rusts out. Is that angled piece attached to the rear of the firewall panel on the replacement pieces, or is it something that needs fabbed up? Or better yet, does someone reproduce it so I don't have to? Or am I just imagining this piece?

It just doesn't look like these to pieces if put together like from the factory could be spot welded together as original. Seems like and looks like there should be another piece between the two.

The inner cowl panel and the firewall shown in the link above is what you are referring to. Depending on how bad your rust is you may not even need the whole firewall replacement or the whole inner cowl panel. Pictures here of what you have would really help. You may need to make your own patch panels if the area below the inner cowl panel is rusted out. Here are a couple pics of what I did to my truck so you can have a better idea. As far as the angled strip you are referring to I think your mind is just playing tricks on you

Still think we're missing something. there needs to be a verticle lip that the firewall attaches to either to the cowl or something else....

That vertical lip you are referring to is part of the cab underneath the cowl. The firewall is spot welded to it.
