Re: Anyone running a xtreme 4x4 comp cam?
My son had the X4262H in a 406 with Vortec heads and I was impressed with how well it ran. I think you'd be happier with one of the Extreme4X4 cams versus the Magnum 292.

Re: Anyone running a xtreme 4x4 comp cam?
Why did your lobe go flat? was it a new cam? so did not brake in right? Just wondering. I used an extreme 4x4 cam in a 350 and it ran well, I have one for the 408 I am building for my 70, but it will be a while before it is on the road

Re: Anyone running a xtreme 4x4 comp cam?
Comp Cams has a really cool cam selector tool to download off their website. You can select different engines, heads, valves, carbs, etc. After you put in your engine specifics and desired purpose, it will give a list of recommended cams.

Re: Anyone running a xtreme 4x4 comp cam?
I have a 274 288 split extreame 4x4 I think. the numbers are fuzzy because we built the engine 9 years ago. not the biggest one they offered but compared to every other 350 I have driven the torq is unmatched this thing pulls to the end of the power curve i love it. matter of fact I thought this truck had 4:11 gears in it it pulleD that good (it has 3:73's) I would not put anything else in a 4x4.

Re: Anyone running a xtreme 4x4 comp cam?
Extreme 254h in a 396. Great idle LOTS of torque and good powerband. It makes the engine feel alot bigger than it is. Comp also recommends the use of a zinc additive to replace the zinc that was removed from oil due to EPA regs. The story that I got was that most newer engines are equipped with roller cams, making the zinc unnecessary for them, but even well broken in flat tappet cams that have been in use for a long time are going flat due to the lack of the zinc. I'm running Rotella in mine with the additive just in case. I hate changing cams. Especially one that I like!

Re: Anyone running a xtreme 4x4 comp cam?
I run Comp Extreme in my 454. Part number 11-231-3.
It's fairly mild, like an RV type cam. So far so good although I have nothing to capare it too as this is my first 454 and the only cam I have ran in it. My engine build was for idel to 5Krpm with contiuious duty in mind so I didn't get too "lumpy" with the cam I choose or I should say the cam CompCam recommended for my specific build.

Re: Anyone running a xtreme 4x4 comp cam?
I live 10 mins away. I lived to go in HS, but there so many people in atvs that are really young and older ones that are irresponsible (driving crazy) that I haven't been in years.
I graduated in 99 BTW. On another note, I have an isky 505T and I think it might be a bit wild for me; not sure because I am not done with the rig yet. We shall see.

Re: Anyone running a xtreme 4x4 comp cam?
I purchased this cam for my big block to replace a very bumpy cam. This cam is much better for my daily driver needs but, it is a little tricky. If you are running a carb, purchase an Air/Fuel meter to tune it. It likes alot of timing so get ready to make all the adjustments. As far as the performance, it placed all the higher rpm horsepower down in the lower rpm range just where I wanted it. But like I said, it takes a little time to figure it out.

Re: Anyone running a xtreme 4x4 comp cam?
Even Comp Cams doesn't suggest the 4x4 cams. Instead they suggest the Xtreme Energy cams.
Me, I wanna Lunati Voodoo.

That roller Voodoo series is the route I wish I went. Soon hopefully.
