axle center line to center rear wheels

Quick question that a few of you might know off the top of your head. I am replacing my rear suspension with a 4-bar set up on a rolling chasis (no sheet metal) and I am wanting to know how far back i need to move back the rear axle to center the wheels in the wheel well. I have the original centerline marked, and I was told by a an old hot rodder to scoot it 2" back. Sound right to any one or any one know the exact dimension?

thanks

i'd think it would b better to put the bed on and measure for yourself rather than take somebodys measurement that may or may not b right

it's a 70 c-1o/gmc. I would put back on the bed if I had sheet metal readily available, but my bed is kinda a frankin bed, just a quick hack job of sheet metal to be street legal. I know the rear wheels have to be moved BACK for sure. just curious what other people were getting for measurements.

It will depend on your setup and how low you are. I used 1" on my Blazer...

Re: axle center line to center rear wheels

I took measurements off of an all original super cheyannne this week end. It fell in the 1.5" range that it was off center. I think a 1" minimum would still look better than not changing it at all. Probably do 1.5" just based off of my measurements this week end.
