Another part number ?

Would anyone have the GM part numbers for the side marker lenses for a '72. The front are amber and the rear are red. The standard lenses........not the deluxe version. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Need some new ones and I want originals if possible. Still haven't found a master parts manual for these trucks so I can't find part numbers. Thanks.

Your dealer can't order them with out you getting the number?
Sounds odd if that is the case.

Went and ordered tail light lenses, backup lenses, front turn signal lenses and a bunch of other stuff today but they say they only have data back to the late 70's. I had the numbers off my current lenses but "the chevy man" says the part number I gave him for the side lenses is not good........which may or may not mean it's no longer available. I don't know. So I'm on my own from what it looks like. Just trying to find out if the numbers I gave him for the lenses is correct.......5960596. Any ideas?

Interesting. If you see an older person in the parts department, try talking to him. They remember when "the books" actually ment paper and not a keyboard.
I know they used the lens you are talking about on some newer Gumman trucks, but I can not recall the year so I am of no help.

Thank you very much for the replies, longhornmail and nu2-72. I appreciate the part nos nu2-72. I'll be calling him first thing monday morning before he sends the order in.

Hell, except for one in town, the only people you see at any of the parts stores or counters around here are the kids in high school auto classes and they just give you a blank stare or laugh when you say you need a part for a 60's or 70's vehicle. Thats why I try to have part numbers when I go and why I'm always looking for master parts manuals.

Thanks again!

Try here www.autolit.com Walter Miller has all kinds of books. This is where I bought my parts book. Chassis and Body Parts Catalog. 1946-1972 1/2 thru 1 ton trucks Series 10-20-30
Book #72TL

I forgot, also check on www.partsvoice.com . This will only get you listing from dealers who use partsvoice but might help you find other items as well.
