Intermittent loss of power - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I was driving home tonight and the motor and radio would intermittently shut down for just a moment then start right back up. It was like someone pulled the plug on an electric motor then plugged it right back in. I know the motor and radio shut down, but the headlights, dashlights never blinked.

Any ideas?

I would start with checking for loose cables from the battery to the starter solenoid. It sounds like you have a loose wire on the ignition circuit. good luck.

Well, you are refering to two seperate circuts. The headlamps and dash lamps are on the battery circut (always hot). The engine and radio are on "run" and "accy" circuts. Both of these are switched by the ignition switch. I'd start there and see what everything looks like, the work down from there. Take a look at the schematic if you have one.
