Power steering cooler?

Do you guys run the factory power steering cooler that is original to these 5.3 engines? I read a magazine article that stated that without one the temps may cause premature wear. Should I install it or leave it off? Project is a 5.3/4L60E into 87 Silverado.

Re: Power steering cooler?

You don't have to run one if you have the stock pump and power steering box only.

Re: Power steering cooler?

No cooler here with hydroboost. All the doner van had was a single loop of steel line running frame rail to frame rail. With my truck being way lighter than the van and never going to carry a heavy load, I decided to skip the cooler. No problems....yet
