4th gen camaro front end
Hey all.
I am new to this forum and thus far glad I joined. Learned some nice new tricks and some valuable. Information. I'm fixn to get started on the ok ladies 56 step side. I was thinking of parting out my (nothing wrong with it) 97 z28 for engine trans seats dash power windows locks. Question I have is can I use the front clip same as a third Gen Camaro? Re: 4th gen camaro front end
Wow, I used to live in Grants Pass. Worked at FourPly, guess it's gone now. Lived up off A St where it turns into Foothill. Wife worked at Litton. Bought my 57 short narrow BBW up on 6th near Hillcrest. Drove it to Phx in '85, still driving it today.
Are you thinking of 2nd Gen Camaro? 70 - 81? They have a good front sub-frame. Gen 3 and 4 are basically uni-bodies with MacPherson strut front ends, no good for transplant usage. My truck now has a 2nd Gen Camaro front and an 88 Vette rear. You won't find many that drive this good. |

Re: 4th gen camaro front end
they don't have a sub frame like the first and second gen. so no it won't work. besides the suspension parts are flimsy.
If it were grafted to the cab the cab becomes a stressed member.I am sure it would distort and soon the doors would be rubbing on the jams or not close at all.{short answer} |

Re: 4th gen camaro front end
Thanks for the info guys. I didnt think it would fit. I have a 72 camaro clip as well as a 12 bolt rear end I will use.

Re: 4th gen camaro front end
there was a company a few years ago that was grafting 1st gen camaro bodies on 4th gen chassis. Leaving the whole lower floor pan intact. Looked very complicated & it was expensive. I think they were in utah.

Re: 4th gen camaro front end
That combination should work pretty good but you may have to put some mini tubs in the bed to clear the tires.
Lux Blue on the HAMB wrote a thread which is pretty well the definitive thread for installing one of those subframes on a 55/59 Chevy truck. Lots of photos and lots of info. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=148978 |
