Vacuum lines will certainly affect the way it runs.
As far as oil leaking when you were running without a PVC valve you may have boogered up the rear intake gasket. Can you tell if there is oil leaking from the rear of the intake?

Do you not have an oil pressure gauge? If you blew your intake gasket, then you should see your oil pressure drop under acceleration since the oil is getting sucked out of the engine.

Ok guys this is just a quick update: Found the oil leak. Turns out that oil is leaking from the Oil dipstick tube where is inserts into the block. Can this be fixed easily? Is there just a simple o' ring or gasket or do I need a new dip stick tube? there is alot of play in mine. I can twist and turn it and pull up and down on the tube. How do I remove it? Just yank it out?
