Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

Just wondering what should I do for a 5/7 drop on my 75 c10 short box, I want a good performance drop but I don't want to break the bank, would a flip kit in the rear be ok or should I do a 4 link kit with air? Any suggestions would be great. Thanx

i guess i should have looked there first haha, is there any benefit to using air ride to just putting in a drop kit besides to lay frame?

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

if your just wanting to lower it, dont spend the extra money to do a 4 link and bags if your not wanting to lay out. A flip kit will work just fine. Ive always stuck with Belltech, nice quality stuff IMO.

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

ya i put a 2/3 drop on my old 89 chevy, 2" spindles up front, and shackles and hangers on rear, i was thinking of a 5/7 on the 75 but i heard the lower A arms will rub on factory rallys, i really like the look of rallys so i would like to run them, would a 4/6 be better?

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

i think i heard using a 3" drop spindle it will rub the lower control arm, so maybe a 2.5'' drop spindle would be the right choice.

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

I got 2.5 McGaughys drop spindles ($245.00) with one round cut off of the bottom of the spings for a 4.5in drop in the front. Got a basic DJM flip kit ($94.00) for the rear for 5in. This is all Ive had to buy to drop my truck, this is the most drop for the $$$ IMO. My neighbor across the street with the red GMC in the background just did his with the same parts yesterday and looks great. Also you see Im running rallies with this set up.

No issue with sway bar, but with rallies you need to slightly trim the front of the lower control arms.

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

I just did belltech springs and spindles on the front of my 79, im running some 15" aluminum wheels and I had to trim my control arms as well. Right now I also have 2" blocks on top of the flip kit but im removing them to fit my 10" rallys.

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

No matter how you lower it your bank will be broken hehe...I didn't go bags, I have a 5/7 drop and i.spent about 1500 just in parts. Could've gotten a air ride setup for that money but then again air ride setups aren't really meant for the track.

I'd decide the route you are taking with your truck first. Show or go. Then go from there. You can have both but then make sure you have a lot of money and never worry about braking the bank hehe.

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

I have 3" drop spindles on my truck and cant run the stock rallys any more to much clearance issues I even had to trim the lower control arm for the 17" rims I have on the truck now but I think its cause the back space of the rims is 4"

is the rear flip kits ok for a trucks with some HP? I take my truck to the track and want it a little lower in the back so was thinking of the flip kits

Years ago a friend of mine had a 73 with a healthy 427. The flip bracket cracked and bent the factory spring perch. But the brackets were home made.

thats what i'm worried about this stroker hooks hard out of the hole and I just had it redone to get more power out of it dont want to drop the rear from under it

is moving the front hanger up a couple of inches a option?

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

If you want to go with a flip and you'll be taking it to the track I'd recommend a c notch in the rear...BTW go with a quality kit for the flip. I've been using DJM suspension products on numerous trucks and never had a problem with it...invest into some good shocks and sway bars also.

Mine is a 5/7 drop also. I didnt have to trim MY control arms, maybe the wheels help with that?

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

ya dont need to use the bolt together flip kit, just buy a set of 25 buck weld on axle perches from Summit and well weld them on.. Same drop as a flip kit, but with no worries of the factory perches being ripped off under load.

If you are interested and have not yet found this, here is a link to a post containing recommendations for lowering for handling performance and what to do first and then progressing up the "food chain" of dollar to returns...

Re: Drop kit for 75 c10 swb

Unless im blind and not seeing the correct link... that has to do with the older trucks with the truck arm suspension, not the 73+ with leafs.

Though the same concept of sway bars, shocks, and spindles applys.
