How do I establish the price of my 72 C10 for sale?
I'm going to be selling my Father's 1972 C10. Its a SWB 4x4 1/2 Ton with a 350 and 373 rear end. We are selling it after March 2012. (He bought it the day he got his first job, and now, 40 years later, he is retiring from that same job and wants to drive it to work on his last day.)
He's the original owner and has rebuilt the body twice, but last done in 1996. It's around 180k miles and rust is beginning to take is toll on the floor board. Some parts are in great condition, others are needing help. I've surfed the web, KBB and NADA, and here for whats for sale, but the varying quality of vehicles makes it difficult to establish a good price line. What resources can the membership point me towards that might help me in getting the right price when we put this up for sale? Thanks in advance. |

Try putting some pictures and all you know about it in the WIW section. There are a lot of members on here with years of knowledge that would be happy to help you.

I completely overlooked the WIW section.
I'll go there and post some pictures. This can be deleted/moved if needed. |

Best deal is to pay the $25 to be a premium member and you can sell it on here. Be careful because its borderline whats it worth and your thread can be closed for not being a paid member. I would look around other sources like craigslist or in classic car traders to get a baseline for a good price of similarly optioned trucks in the same kind of condition. But the kicker is its only worth what someone is willing to pay, but start a little high because you can always comes down. Post some pics of the truck.

Yes, you must be a subscibing member to post in the WIW section, or ask what it's worth...However, you can ask sources.
I'd do some ebay searches of completed listings, see what they are listed for on craigslist, and see what has been sold on this forum's trucks for sale forum. That will be your best indication. KBB is not realistic for these trucks

And the $25 fee would be well worth it in this case as there are several very knowledgeable guys who will be able to give you a realistic value for the truck....and nowhere else will you find such a targeted audience when you do list it for sale...

Wow, if it were my truck, I would never sell it after 40 years, regardless - I would think you might get seller's remorse on that one. Has to be a lot of memories there.
