H or X
I want to redue my exhaust on my truck. i currently have 2 inch true duals to flow master 40 series. i want to either go with a 2.5 inch x or h pipe, possiby stay with true duals with bigger pipes. any suggestions?

Re: H or X
As far as gains, not much difference. There is a difference in sound, though. An H will give a deeper sound where as an X will be higher pitched.
This comes from experience in doing exhaust on Chevelles. I'm sure it makes no difference if its a truck. |

Re: H or X
I have an X on my truck (pypes brand kit) and it has a nice deep tone and is pretty quiet once the engine warms up. This is with a 5.3L with long tubes though.....your sound may vary

Re: H or X
Which X-pipe from pypes do you have Ackattack? What kind of power are you running in your truck? Headers? If I were you I would do 2.5" true duals, Flowmaster 40's X-pipe. I had that on my 98 Sierra and even though different motor it sounded very good.

Re: H or X
i have the 350 with long tube headers. I'm thinking the h pipe will sound deeper, and i want an aggressive tone to the truck

I had 2.5" pipes. That's plenty unless you have over 600hp. |

Re: H or X
The more I hear spintech mufflers, the more I like them! Not the right sound for my ride, but if I ever build a performance vehicle, it'd be the muflfer I'd get. Do a youtube search on them, very aggressive sound if you ask me.

Re: H or X
^ I agree. They do sound good, but aren't they chambered like Flowmasters?
There are many mixed reviews on Flows, but I like the sound even though they don't flow as well as say something like Pypes or Magnaflow. I had Super 44s on another Chevelle and loved it, but the drone got to me. Even with the exhaust exit behind the rear bumper. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: H or X
Spintechs are chambers, but spiral chambers...I have no idea what that does for flow though...
Youtube is prodominatly filled with beefy bbcs with the spins, but putting in sbc in the search helps narrow it down to get an idea. So far I have heard 2 sbcs with them locally...1 that was hi comp and another that was "rv" cammed...both still sounded awesome.
