I made a _____ for my 67-72 Blazer! (post your homemade stuff here)

After seeing a thread like this on most of the other automotive sites i am on, i figured we could see what the brothers around here have made/modified/fabricated for use on their '67 - '72 Blazers.

Here is the rear tire- jerry can carrier the PO made for my '71:

I made this to bolt in the factory spare tire carrier. It started out life as a Isuzu rodeo external tire carrier. Then the wheels in my head started turning. I knew that the wheel wld bolt on because the bolt pattern was the same as chevy.This is what I came up with.

Nice job, i love seeing guys using stuff made for other cars and adapting them for use to address their particular need. My current project is I am looking for some side steps or running boards that i can adapt for use on my '71. I saw some from a mid-'80s Jeep Wrangler in the junk yard the past week, but they didn't go far back enough to reach the frame rail.

Duno what the PO was telling you but that is not "home made" that was made by Kayline the old Soft Top company out of Colorado...I know because I had one on mine back in the 90s. I bought their SoftTop and carrier.
Here is the only pic I have online and you can't even see it that well. That spare is a new 35" tire that would not fit inbetween the can baskets so I cut them off. I just upgraded to a 37gal tank so I didn't need to carry gas anymore.

RLONG- Man, that is just what i wanted to do to my Blazer. Could you show us how you mounted them to your frame? I want to get past the rocker boxes, but the frame rails are a long way in. That is my current dilemma.

I wanted to put kickpanel speakers in my ’71 Blazer, and of course I ran into the usual problem of the emergency brake not leaving enough clearance for the speakers. I read on this forum about guys who cut the pedal off the arm and relocated it a few inches to the right. I was too lazy to remove the whole e-brake assembly, so I cut the pedal arm midway up with my angle grinder, and then cut off the foot pedal part. I then welded it back to the arm as far to the right as I could without altering the function. Finally, I welded the arm back to where I cut it off the assembly. Now I have ample clearance for the speaker and the speaker cover. There was no change to the function of the pedal. The steel used there is surprisingly soft and cut extremely easy with the cut-off wheel.

You can see by the photos of the repositioned pedal, that it is more like the way pedals are positioned on modern cars, recognizing the possibility of adding speakers in that location.

I built a boat rack for canoes and kayaks that sits on the rails and uses the mounting holes for the top. Something I'm planning on doing next year is to take some parachute material or other lightweight nylon material to a seamstress and have her sew some magnets in the corners. When I park in a hot parking lot with the top off, I'll throw a couple of magnets on the dash and a couple on the rails or floor behind the seats to keep the seats and steering wheel from roasting in the sun.
