Post 57-59 pickup center caps on corvette ralleys?

Alright folks, Any idea how this is done? I always thought that stock hubcaps would never fit corvette/muscle car ralley wheels. The example pick has proven me wrong. Is somebody selling these special caps as ralley wheel compatable or is this someone's trick enginuity to make them work? I'd really like to slap on some stock 57' hub caps to my corvette ralleys.

Re: 57-59 pickup center caps on corvette ralleys?

dunno but i like it - i hope someone answers this... But it brings up another question - WHY is it that some tire shops can ALWAYS balance a wheel/tire without putting any weights on the outside of the rim - and some NEVER can?

Not that I have a DEFINITIVE answer - because I haven't done it, but I HAVBE thought of it and I'm guessing that it involves several of THIS little part (middle of page about center), carefully measured for.

Thoughts?

Those caps and rings came from Stockton Wheel in Stockton Ca. http://www.stocktonwheel.com/ They fit great and they stay on. The rims are stock 15 X 8 Corvette ralleys.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, Stockton Wheel has a very limited website showing their products. I can't seem to search and click on individual hubcaps on their site. Guess I gotta call them?

i think the rally caps and the 58-59 caps are same if not i know they sell metal tabs you can put on the lugs and it has a deal for them to lock in.

chevy trucks hubcaps are 8 inches wide across inner lip, and the rally cap centers measure 7 inches across

Exactly! I tried to fit a factory 57-59 pickup hubcap on my corvette rally wheels......too big!!! Someone must make an aftermarket pickup cap that fits the rally wheels. I'll keep looking.

You just buy the replacement clips fir stick rims from a place like The Truck Shop in Orange, CA, measure carefully, drill for sheet metal screws and there you go. You'll see that's how Delmo mounted early caps to smoothy 20 & 22" Centerlines in a couple of his builds.

Re: 57-59 pickup center caps on corvette ralleys?

I have had this problem before to correct this you need two set of caps (cheapo police rally caps made in china to destroy) and 55-57 Truck caps.
Cut the import cap with large enough cut off wheel on inside edge cap. Then on 56 cap trim edge flat and try to keep as much of material as you can as long as it is flat. Place cheap cap edged that you cut off on 56 Hubcap centered and spot weld. Making sure that you put a wet rag inside the cap to prevent damage to chrome from inside. After spot weld I used liquid nail or JB Weld for cheap insurance. I have done this on 48 Ford hubcaps to aftermarket solids wheels and chevy truck to rally's. What makes it a pain is centering the new cap on old cap use a t_square if you can!

Inner size of rally rim dish prevents clips from being used

Well that's not good news. I bought a set of camaro rally wheels and a set of the Chevy moon hubs and a set of the clips 4 pr 5 years ago with the intent of
using the hubs.
