Outside A/C box
First of all, great site! Been reading for a while, but first time poster.
I am wondering if anyone knows where i can find a replacement for the under hood A/C box. I have a A/C equipped truck. Any help will be appreciated. Sorry if this has already been covered. |

Re: Outside A/C box
First of all Welcome aboard from Central Florida! This is by far the best place to be if you have one of these trucks.
Second, these folks want to see pictures of your truck, show dog or rust bucket, we love em all. Now to your question...no, nobody repops the firewall box. What you need to do is pony up the $25 subscription fee so you can buy and sell parts in here. Believe me, it will be the best money you spend on your truck...ever. I bought a whole parts truck to get the AC stuff under the hood but all you need to do is post a Want To Buy thread and someone will have one for sale. Now..lets see your truck.

Re: Outside A/C box
Wow...very clean ride you got there!
If you're missing that much, IMO it'd be best to just go with a under the dash style like vintage or old air. I little more expensive, but you won't have to hunt down parts or try and diagnose which ones aren't functioning if things are functioning right.

Thanks tubbed. That's what I am probably going to do. Just thought I'd try here first. I'm in the process of restoring it.

Re: Outside A/C box
Sweet looking truck.
You might consider looking at aftermarket A/C systems, like Vintage Air or other companies. Just a thought.

Re: Outside A/C box
If all your missing is the outside box (evap and stuff) I would look on the parts board. They usually never go bad and they should be very cheap.

Re: Outside A/C box
I'd talk to Old Air, I think they sell most of the replacement parts for the original parts.

Re: Outside A/C box
Yes chevytruckluver, thanks for the help. I think I'm gonna go with the vintage air set up. Got plenty time to save, plus I like the clean look. Thanks for all the help everyone.

Re: Outside A/C box
. . . .
I found this left side for my 70 on this website about a year ago for $30. It came from someone who was parting out their truck. I'd looked at MANY large "swap meets" and couldn't find one. . . . . |
