Other VIN locations?
Is there anywhere else that I would find a vin # besides the inspection plate and the frame by the steering box? I have a 1971 GMC Sierra Grande. Thanks

Re: Other VIN locations?
Often old insurance cards will have it, and they turn up in the weirdest spots.

Re: Other VIN locations?
The fram vin is a partial one.
The only one that counts for legal reasons is the one rivited to the cab. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Other VIN locations?
These two photos were helpful for me to find the partial VIN on the frame of my '72 2wd (Thanks to Duncan and Son). An example of the partial VIN is 2S123456. The 2 the last digit of the model year (1972), the S is the plant code (St. Louis), and the 123456 is the build sequence.

Re: Other VIN locations?
My 72 eagle truck only has the set under the cab on top frame rail, doesn't have a set up by ps box, kind of strange, truck hasn't been wrecked and is all original. I used a mirror and chalk, also some play doo, Very hard to see them with cab on but it is possible

Re: Other VIN locations?
Most had the partial vin by the gear box, but not all did.
