Re: Belated Build thread!!!
No new progress since i have been at college over the last three months and working every weekend but since all my buddies bailed on a Spring Break to Ft. Lauderdale ive decided to go lay under my truck for the week and use my Spring Break money to rebuild my engine i found a pic of when i first got my truck on my 16th brithday after my dad bought it back from the guy he sold it too! Also pictured is the license plate that im going to run on my truck
PS if a moderator could move this to the projects/build section i would be grateful!

Re: Belated Build thread!!!
Well i have been on spring break for the past week so i have spent alot of time working on the truck. i was going to rebuild my motor but no one seemed to be able to get the piston that i needed so im putting it off! made alot of progress this week. First i had to cut the old uppper bolts out with a torch to get the springs out, then i put the new springs in, changed the shift modulator, changed the rad hoses and water neck gasket that was leaking and installed some emblems! the truck ran great! the first time that i have drove it in a year almost THEN THE SET BACK. while taking driving the truck to get aligned and started to smell antifreeze! the water neck had given way! the motor got hot in an instant (400 sbc) but i didnt have anywhere to shut it down bc i was in BFE so i had to drive almost a mile to find somewhere i could pull off the road! when i changed the gasket i poured water in the rad only to have it pour out the back of the motor somewhere......hopefully it just popped a head gasket! if the block got damaged tho then im going 383 or Big Block

Re: Belated Build thread!!!
Well i finally go around to taking my 400 apart. It got hot and stopped so i just bit the bullet and yanked her. Nothing at all looked outta place? i was looking for a spun rod bearing or bad bearing in general bc it has always had a low end knock but ran so i tried to ignore it! well it goes to the machine shop money to get punched .030 over and all prettied up before going back together in a more aggressive form
ohh and no core shift!!!

Re: Belated Build thread!!!
well alot has happened since i last posted. I got the 406 together and got everything lined out after having the the valves too tight and a crappy Demon Carb. so i readjusted the valves and bought a QFT HodRod series carb (awesome carb). so i finally got it to run right and run it does! i drove it back to college this weekend and had a little run in w a new Camaro SS..edged it by a nose! so my 68 is still missing some chrome, needs wheels painted and marker lights but its mechanically done..for now, ill get some pics of it up here in the next day or two. in other news i sold my 72 GMC Jimmy, sad day but at the end of the month im head to FL to pick up an 04 Silverado SS to replace a worn out saturn as my DD!

Re: Belated Build thread!!!
I saw your truck when you were pulling out off 801 onto 60 that day at the lake. It was good running into you today, it's a small world!
