Rear gears transplant?
I have a .342 locking diff rearend from an '84 c20 Burb that I'd like to put in my '74 c20 pickup (.456 currently). Any thoughts/opinions?

remove the whole axle housing etc basically the whole thing and install the burban one, that requires no setting the backlash etc.
FYI if you swap them complete it doesnt matter if either one was full float or not only complication is u joint spray the brake lines with PB Blaster now and many times ahead of time, and buy new U bolts ahead of time itll cost $ 50 and you dont have to fight with old stretched ones. maybe a new U-Joint too but dont get carried away lol
