Re: wheels with clips and caps
My 3/4 ton has clips. My 1/2 ton does not. Both 1966. Different size caps for both.

Re: wheels with clips and caps
I think up to 55? I may be mistaken. I know the 40s had 16s

Re: wheels with clips and caps
Well there is alot of different wheels apparently. I am looking at two different sets that have 6 clips the one set is late 40's with the rounded center section. the second set I figured for 61-61 but they are 6 clip also. maybe late fifties i guess. the steel wheels I have now have the raised lumps for the caps. two of the have three lumps and the other two have four. sure is alot of combinations of a wheel that pretty much looks the same

Re: wheels with clips and caps
The newest chevy to come with clip type hubcaps in the 6 lug half ton wheel is 1961 as far as I have seen so far. I have owned a 63 gmc that was factory correct which had 6 lug 15" split rims, with clip type hubcaps--so dont have an answer on when the last years for gmcs. The 3/4 8 lug wheel clip type hubcaps went away after 68 to the best of my knowledge.

The four bump wheel came out in 73-til mid 80's. They were primarily found on blazer, jimmy, 4x4 and vans. The only difference in the 3 bump and 4 bump wheels are that the 4 bump were made for disc brakes, so they have a different backspacing. A very nice rim if you want to run stock wheel trim and caps on disk brake w/o any modification to the wheel or caliper
