tune up parts

Do any of the online vendors sell spark plugs, wires, cap, etc. I'm tired on local parts guys not being confident or experienced. (72 402BB adding Pertronix HEI conversion) Looking at MSD 8.5 wires, NGK plugs, etc. or comparable.

Heck I also need good set of 4 quality name brand shocks for 72 K20 burb. I contacted Edelbrock and they do not list shocks for 72 and earlier trucks.

I am ready to spend some money and want good parts and service for fair price and would perfer to deal with online board vendors.

Please email me at bob.hines@eweb.eugene.or.us
with prices and we can go from there. I have a few of these trucks but often get the run around.

Help me get going!!

thanks.

Just in case you don't find what you are looking for, i normally keep records of what I have found that works. This way, even though i use an aftermarket air filter, I know what to grab, and I don'thave to deal with parts people who want to know if I have A/C to get me spark plugs.
(try getting plugs for a Caddy 425 in a '70 Chevy...or an int reg alt for the same...ect)

And don't even try to tell them that your GMC has a 305 or a 351 V-6. I had to bring in my owners manual when the guy asked what my truck had in it originally.

You're right Andy, the clerk at my local parts store was sooo sure that those engines did not exist, I proved him wrong Ha

Tune up parts???

If anyone had part number on MSD 8.5's, good dist. cap, spark plug part number and gap and shocks that would be a start.

I'll asume you are talking GMC?
The main differance is the trim around the actual grill...

Here is a 69...you can see the trim on the top that is there, and the "eyebrow" trim is actually missing on the passenger side. (if you try, you can see it on the drivers side)

And this one is a 67, which is the exact same as a 68, except the 67 says GMC in the grill instead of on the hood.
*interesting fact, the grill its self is the exact same from 68 - 70 on GMC trucks, and with the exception of the lettering, it is the same for 67 also*

after going to the local, chuckers, f**kers and dumb kids, I started to just take a list with part #s and everything and tell them that this is what I need. But they still try and tell me that the parts I need dont work for the truck. I just look and laugh and ask them have they ever worked on my truck, and tell them to get what I asked for no questions. They think that the books and the computer are always right. Crazy Kids I started going to NAPA at least the give me what is on the list with no questions.

sorry for the subject change

cheyenne 10; you're right, I did just squat on your subject and i apologize. the reason i was on your thread was I was interested in the answers to your questions also.

SO, COULD ANYBODY HELP US WITH SOME TUNE UP PART INFORMATION?

My question is what are the best, most practically priced plug wires for headers? Do we really have to pay $100 a set for cut to length msds?

Try here for wire looms.
BTW......Summit sells their products.

As for shocks.....there are lots to choose from. When I get to that point I'm going to check into KYB. I had them quite a few years ago on a car of mine and liked them. I'm not sure who carries them though.

wire looms

If I'm not mistaken, the wire looms are Taylor. They have the vertical and horizontal ones (if I remember right). I have the vertical ones on my 67 camaro.

Mososo makes good wire looms too, and I like msd and taylor plug wires. Summit or jegs have all of that stuff.
