FNG Checking in

I'm picking up my wife's grandfather's 1966 C10 next month, so I've joined the board looking for good info. I'll be combing through the old posts, digging out the gold and asking all kinds of questions pretty soon here.

I'm new to restoring cars/trucks, so any advice up front is appreciated. I've already subscribed to a couple of magazines and bought a book on restoring Chevy trucks.

What else should I be doing to prep?

Welcome,,,,You will enjoy the board. Not many post from us 60-66 owners. I have a '64 C10. It is a daily driver, no show truck. I enjoy dreaming about it being a show truck someday. As for your C10, if it is going to be a daily driver, convert to power steering. It is so easy to do and will make driving it so much more enjoyable.

Again, welcome to the board. Ask all the questions you wish. We can all learn from the answers.

Shorty Cox - I've noticed that there are not too many posts in this section, but lots of good stuff in the general posts. My '66 is just going to be a weekend warrior. The cash isn't available to make it into a show truck, so I just want to clean it up, stop the rust and have something to cruise in on Saturday...

Demmit_Hemmit's 65 - I'm in Kirkland, Washington...which is 10 miles or so from Seattle.

ToeJam, I understand the cash flow problem. If i had the money to make "Ole Blue" a show struck, Kitty, my wife, would not let me spend it. As far as rust goes on the 60-66 C10s, not sure the rust can be stopped. It seems to be built into them. I think it was an option from the factory. lol

Enjoy the crusing. As i said, "Ole Blue" is not a show truck, but it turns heads when i cruse on Saturday night.
