Hello

My linkage gets jammed up when I go from 1st to 2nd to fast. And by fast I dont mean super fast....just quicker than dead slow. Slow it seems ok.

Your shift box is worn. You need to pull it & rebuild it.

I'd have to agree with W/R on that one. You might be able to adjust it a bit and lube it up good and have it work a bit better but in the end it will need rebuilt. I think the major players in the Chevy Truck parts game all have the rebuild kits.

Take a look over at stovebolts.com, they are more stock orientated.

Jafo, Check the bushings in the two shifter arms at the box and also at the arms on the tranny. If the bushing are worn or missing that might be the problam. If the bushings are good, put the shifter in neutral and look at the arms on the box. The arms should be in the same relative position. The ends of the arms should be directly even with each other. If not adjust them with the clamp on the rods. If everything checks out so far remove the four screws in the top of the box and look for worn parts inside. The whole thing is simple and all parts are available. The shift detents in the tranny must be in good condition also as that's what holds the shift arms in the shifter box in the correct position so the shifter can move from the 1st/rev to 2nd/3rd position. Hope this helps.
