Krazy_texans 65 lwb

Well here is my truck affectionatly named Sam. Sam is a 1965 chevy C10 lwb. Well i thought when i brought him home i was going to have a somewhat reliable daily driver but hahaha i was way wrong. I drove him home with no taillights but that was an easy fix the kid that i got him from was a moron and did not have the taillights grounded so 20 minutes of work a voila i have taillights. Well a few weeks of driving him around town i notice the brakes getting progressivly worse and gear oil coming out the driver side of the rear diff everywhere i park so i go to pull the rearend apart and discover that the holding pin in the pinion shaft is broke off and i cant get it out. So there he sat for months and months until i moved. Now i have purchased another rear end and after grinding several bolts on the rear end of the truck to remove the old axle i have decided i might as well do things right and just rebuild the whole frame and so it has started so far i have added a 68 master cylinder and replumbed all the brakes in the truck i removed the old rear end and coil springs a purchased a set of heavy duty coil springs to install along with all the hardware needed to do the install now while i am waiting on parts to arrive i am going to pressure wash the frame and since i am not looking to make a show truck just a good looking driver i am going to clean up what i can of the frame and give it a rattle can job.

Re: Krazy_texans 65 lwb

Today i pulled the truck up out of the back yard, the first time it has been moved since installing the new rear end cause with my new job and the weather acting like it has i have not been able to get out and do much to it. But it is scheduled to go get the brakes pressure bled and the exhaust done in the morning being as all attempts where futile, then again on the good side it will be back on the road and ready for winter. well sort of. but i cant wait i have been without driving an old truck for close to 8 years then i had these issues with this one and it is driving me nuts but thats what you get from an old truck sometimes. None the less i love my truck.

HEy Texan, I just bled my brakes today. For the rears, I had to back the bleeders out quite a way before they would begin to bleed. Take a look and see if you are backing these out far enough. That may be an issue. Also, it takes a decent amount of fluid to bleed all the old crap and air out. I went through almost 2 full big bottles of dot 3.

Re: Krazy_texans 65 lwb

Well i have a defective wheel cylinder apparently on the front so i ordered a new one from rock auto today hope to see it in the mail soon. I do have speed bleeders on the front and the work great. one thing that i plan on doing is opening every union point in the brake line and using my mighty vac up to that point until i know i have fluid all the way back then trying to bleed them.

Re: Krazy_texans 65 lwb

ok so the parts store sold me the wrong master cylinder no biggy but they did not have the one i needed in stock so i opted for the stock single one came home and bled the brakes in about 10 minutes. I took the truck on its maiden voyage today and plan on driving it to work tonight. Now onto other things and hopefully i will have a nice truck soon. My goal is June cause i plan on taking it on Hot Rod Power tour as a long hauler this year
