4 sp Loosing Oil

Hey everybody, unfortunately the manual 4 speed in my K5 is loosing oil. Appears to be coming from front seal. I think transmission is in great shape other than leak. I can not repair it myself and must take it to a shop. Do I have a standard seal installed? Also any recommendations or advise on other things to have done while tranny is out?
Thanks in advance.

seeing that theyre gonna hafta pull the tranny to fix the front seal, you might as well do the rear seal also,it probablly just as old.maybe just re-seal the whole unit,,,,,,no sense in having to pull it back out in 3 months,,,,,jeff

also, an old rule of thumb was replce the input shaft bearing .....whenever the trans came out(just for peace of mind). Im not sure how the clutch works for you, but the throwout bearing is another source of possible trouble if its been in for a while. It might cost a little more, but in the longrun possibly save another labor bill. Good luck, crazyL

Smile

Have you checked the vent on the transmission?

It might be worth checking since if it it is plugged, the pressure will force oil out.
