Hey Swappers! Share your parts to use/not to use with us.
Ok, so those of you who have finished your builds or are in the process of swapping this is your time to vent on the parts/vendors that have either made your swap/build a breeze or a complete nightmare.
What about those little hidden things during your build that just popped up unexpectedly... Use a format similar to the one Im about to provide to make it pretty easy for us aspiring swappers. -Part name -Cost -Vendor -What was soo great about it(for those praising the part)/What sucked about it(for those ranting about the part) -Any parts that this wont work with? -Was it worth the money(for those praising part/vendor) -Any other words??? *NOTE TO ALL* I am creating this to help all the new guys to this experience not have to waste money on parts that really didnt work out. Thanks for all the help ![]() |

The problem with your idea is that some parts that might not work for one guy will be perfect for another. So someone might say these manifolds don't clear but they might be fine for the next guy. Unfortunately, not every build is identical.

Re: Hey Swappers! Share your parts to use/not to use with us.
The build cost list has HUGE amounts of info, and bunch of us have posted costs, part numbers and vendors in big Excel docs.
I'll toss a couple in here tho, the ones that had big impact. TBSS manifolds fit pretty much anything, they fit inside the frame with no modifications, although the flange MAY come close to the ears on the trans if you run a 4l80e, plus they don't cost a ton. If you are piecing things together, do so BEFORE ordering a harness. I had to source some different parts because there were some model year changes that complicated things. IE there are 2 styles of alternator plug, and different injector pigtails. PS hoses can be made or modified easily, no need to spend money on "swap" hoses some places sell, or a bunch of end adapters. If you run DBW, know what year (production) everything is...it makes a big difference.

Re: Hey Swappers! Share your parts to use/not to use with us.
Looking forward to this thread. Great Idea. I'm in the midst of putting a 6.0 TBSS LS2 with Cam, intake, headers, etc...into my 72 2wd blazer roadster. Just bought the ECE motor mounts and deciding whether to send the harness out for cleansing sort of speak or take on the job of removing the extra wires myself. Anyways, great idea for a thread I'm sure I will find it usefull.

Exactly right. I should have been clear. I hate all the Acronyms as well. lol. Sorry about that. This motor with the extras made 436 hp at the wheels on the dyno with a 4L70E and a 3200 stall. I can't wait to put it in once the body gets back from Paint and welding prison. In the mean time I just keep buying parts. Just ordered the Marquez tail lights and a new harness for the body. So, I would be very happy to see the advice from this site and this post.
