Lower A arms snubber question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a question on the snubbers since I have A arms off of two 72 trucks that are different from each other. One set has the snubber and bracket on them and the other does not. The A arm without the snubber bracket came off of a 72 frame and neither side has the bracket.

I have several 69-72 A arms and they all have the brackets on them. The two A arms without the brackets have never had brackets attached to them. Picture shows two of the A arms, one with the bracket and the other without.

Is this a year difference or is there another reason?

May be just the angle of the picture, but one looks be off of a heavier duty truck. I have never seen one without the snubber brackets.

Interesting observation. I will measure the material thickness of the two different A arms.

These are the first A arms that I have seen without the brackets.

I measured the metal thickness on both A arms and they are the same, .187".

I compared the two A arms again very closely and the only difference that I can see is the snubber stands. Seems very strange that the A arms would work without the snubbers. The stands also act as steering stops!
