Are my old wheels worth saving?
I found a set of 1995 Chevy 2500 wheels/tires for a pretty good price so I can get my truck driving safely and start using it. The guy wants my old three piece wheels/tires for rollers for the parts truck he is taking the 2500 wheels off. Are they just scrap, or do three piece wheels have any value that makes it worth saving and trying to sell them? Thanks all.

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
The old split rims have an extremely limited market. Only those seeking total accuracy for a correct restoration would be interested. In my experience, most tire shops won't even service those wheels for safety reasons. That said, they are getting harder to find, if that is what you really want. You may be able to sell them, but it could take awhile.

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
Thanks for the info OEM4ME, I believe I will just give them to the guy to put on his parts truck.

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
Are the wheels 8 lug 15” or 16” or 16.5”s I still have the spilt rims on my truck and them powder coated. OEM4ME is correct; there are not too many shops that will even deal with them. You have to go to an old time tire shop or a truck shop to have them mounted. If they are 16’s please let me know I would be interested.

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
They are 17" 8 lug. If you still want them you'll have to help me out with some rollers for this guy who's wheels I am buying. I think he actually only needs two but I can confirm. I'm going to keep the wheel covers though.

Please post some pictures. If they have the correct centers then I would be interested. I have 2 / 16.5’s that I can provide for the guy

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
Surfdaddy, I'm probably going to do this today or tomorrow so I don't think you'll be able to get here in time. If I buy these wheels I will give you the guy's number who will have my old wheels, likely only two of them. If you want them I can keep the other two for you.

if you go and look you will see that you made those 2 statements up above. your old wheels will not fit the newer truck, so the fellow really has no use for them as I presume that it was a newer truck ron |

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
I'm looking to see if my 61 GMC factory caps will work on those rims. I can't telll from the picture if there are clips on the inside or not. PM me with the guys number if he want to get rid of them.

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
Those wheels have the clips, and will work with your 3/4 ton gmc caps. I like the looks of the split rims. I hate to here people wanting to chuck them for modern wheels. Split rims are only dangerous if they arent mounted correctly, and you will know it when you set the bead on first fill up. Once they are together they are as harmless as any other rim. If you take the proper saftey precautions when mounting, you'll be fine. I wouldnt mess with rusty split rims.

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
Your old wheels will bolt onto his new truck, the center will not match up so the wheel will sit on that center and not flush. As a roller it won't be a problem, but definitely not road worthy.

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
I like the look of the old rims, alot, but I can't afford tires for them. I need the truck to run and be drivable so I can use it. The guy says he will find some rollers and call me to get his wheels when he does. So I guess I can put these in the shed or Surfdaddy can PM me if he wants to come to Sacramento for them.

Re: Are my old wheels worth saving?
My dad was almost killed by a split rim.
Myself, I'd scrap em.
