70 GMC 4x4 ?
I have a 70 GMC4x4 1/2 ton 4 speed tranny not sure of transfer case. The question is: between the transfer case and transmission can the oil move back and forth with out restriction? Otherwise can the oil from the transmission get into the transfer case?
I checked oil in transfer case and it ran out like it was too full and transmission was not full enough. It took about a quart to top off. Thanks for any help. Ron

Re: 70 GMC 4x4 ?
I am assuming you have a manual trans. The adaptor between the trans and t case (mostly likely a NP205) does have two seals that keep the fluids separate. Sounds like your seals are shot.

Re: 70 GMC 4x4 ?
Same problem occurs with TH350 coupled to a NP205..... seals go bad and trans fluid is pumped into the t-case. To the OP -- it doesn't flow both directions, though.

Re: 70 GMC 4x4 ?
get a jack or jack stand underneathe that trans to support it though cause the adaptor fromtrans to t-case is what bolts to that crossmember, which i think you'll have to drop down quick
