Upgrading to Custom Autosound 230

OK, I think I've finally had enough of the original AM radio in my truck. I'm thinking of getting the Custom Autosound 230 which is just the AM/FM with Aux inputs for iPod etc... I'm not that into sound systems and don't want to get carried away. I might get the kick panel speakers later, but for now I just want to replace the dash speaker The dual dash speaker is only 60 watts and the stereo is 50 watts per channel. The dual cone speaker is 140 watts so that seems to make more sense. Anyone used either of these speakers, and if so, what do you think of them?

The custom autosound radio my step dad had in his 55 chevy died after a year.He called them they gave him the run around so he tossed it.I would cut the dash for a din size its cheaper and you get a better radio out of it.Or if you want a radio to fit the factory hole http://www.retrosoundusa.com/ is the only other i know of but never used them.

I'd say the reviews are in and these things are dogs. The retrosound probably isn't much better. I started a second thread about the Repro Radio AM/FM replica:

but those things are $595, and who knows if they are any good either? I don't want to cut my dash. Tunes aren't that big a deal to me. I'll probably stick with the old AM for now and maybe hide something better in the glove box later on.

Re: Upgrading to Custom Autosound 230

I've got the retrosound and like it. My first one had a problem and they stood behind their product completely. I sent mine to them, they sent me a brand new one to replace it. I was within the 2-year warranty period and they honored it without a blink.

Custom Autosound should not be in the same sentence with upgrade.
