Guess My Weight!

Who can give me a close to accurate estimate of the weight of a 72 C-20 8 ft bed, small block, 700R4, 2pc. shaft, 14 bolt rear, 16" alluminum 8 lug wheels, 265/70R16's all the way around and a spare in the bed. Bench seat, oh yeah A/C, p/s, p/b, coil springs all around, carpet, and LineX coated bed, bed sides and tail gate. Took out the stock gas tank and put a steel tank, (21 gal.), in the frame rails. I think thats it. I'm going to have my distributor professionally setup and I'd like to be able to tell the tech. the vehicle weight. Just your best estimate would really be appreciated. Thank you all.

According to the resto-pac info that I have......factory weight was 4134#. How accurate that is, I'm not sure.
I think it's longhornmail that has the 1/2 ton GMC that weighed about that much.

I guess your weight at 4600-4800 lbs on the 3/4 ton truck. the 1/2 ton trucks seem to go around 3800-4000 lbs, by the scale in a local scrap yard. My 78 c 20 scaled @ 4600 empty/less driver.....the added weight of the flatbed brought it to around 5200 lbs. the longhorn was said to have a 4800-5000 lb curb weight.....mine is pretty stripped, & scales @ 4040 less driver & about 1/2 tank of fuel. crazyL

Take it to any major truck stop and they will tell you for about five bucks.

Any place that has commercial scales. Truck stops, scrap yards and some trucking companies.
The ones on the side of the interstate are usually state operated. I don't think you can weigh anything other than OTR trucks at those.

If you live in a rural area, the local feed mill or grain elevator will have scales.

Good Luck,

When I weighed my 70 C20 BB Custom Camper in at the gravel pit it weighed 4200lbs. with me in it. I wouldn't think your truck would weigh anymore than 4200 lbs. By the way I weighed out loaded at 10,640.

I finally got a chance to visit a local rock quarry and weighed the truck. It was 4560 with the spare in the back and a half tank of gas. That would be 4750 with my fat a$$ in there!!

Up here we don't have to pay anything to weight our vehicles, just drive onto the scales after hours and it displays your weight. Stopped there yesterday with my truck, it was 4056 pounds.

My 71 c-20 4x4 is 5100 on the scales leaving the dump with driver + full 20 gal onboard. Guesstimate to your hearts content.
