On a Wing and a Prayer
Well I've been an observer long enough. It's time to get started on my own project. I have a 1970 C10 short bed that I aquired about 6 months ago. It was originally copper colored with a white top. But sometime between then and now it changed to purple and is now affectionately known as "Barney" around these parts. But I do think that will change eventually. I'm not real sure on a color yet, but there is plenty of time for that. Anyway, I am building a shoestring budget daily driver here and learning as I go. I have been checking out some other post on here and looking at your photos to gather some tips and advice. Great info on here btw. Anyway here are some pics and I'll try to update on my progress as I go. Any advice or help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: On a Wing and a Prayer
Thanks for the welcome. Working on the bed rust right now. Then the dent on the corner where the bumper was pushed in. I'm going to coat the bottom and inside the bed with Dupli color bed liner.

Re: On a Wing and a Prayer
Does anyone know if you can get a patch panel for the bottom front corner of the right front fender? Under the old battery is toast and the PO packed it with bondo.

Re: On a Wing and a Prayer
One of my trucks had the same issue on the firewall as yours. May as well add a firewall to the list along with a right front fender.

Re: On a Wing and a Prayer
Thanks guys for the response. We'll figure something out. Probably get a new fender. I hope I can salvage the fire wall when I get to it. I might better take it one step at a time. Lol.

Yeah, you can get the fender cup as it's called. I've put in a couple- not too bad of a job. Make sure you measure 3,4 or 5 times before you cut.

Thanks Dingfodgy, I have not had any luck searching on my own. That's the great thing about this board.

Re: On a Wing and a Prayer
Well I got a little done today. I completely removed the bad cross member and replaced it. Then I had to hit the bed with the wire wheel just to knock off the surface rust. It's been a week since I sand blasted. Did get one coat of bed liner on the bottom side. Should work I hope. I also started working on that dent. Making progress but I got a ways to go yet. Here's a few pics:
