[QUOTE=nickp51chevy;5036410]If it doesn't sell I'm gonna drag it with me out that way to SC.

Well on your way to SC, just drop it off here in KY LOL, it'll fit right in and actually looks better than my rust buckets!

I'm starting to think that mine is fitting quite well in that seat now.

Re: Funny thing happened to me today...

I never let stuff like that bother me. I personally think its the duty of a buyer to try and get it for less than asking price. You never know how much less someone might take for it, and you never know who youre dealing with til you try. Alot of people list things for way more than they will take. I went to look at a pool table last spring that was listed for 800 bucks, I gave her a hundred dollar bill for it and hauled it off. I always assess what its gonna take to get it like I want it, and what it will cost. If someone else likes it the way it is, and is just gonna start driving it as is, then it will be worth more to them.

Re: Funny thing happened to me today...

When people try and pull that kind of bs with me when I'm selling something it's usually enough to make me tell them "come back and see me with a reasonable offer when you're ready" or words to that effect. Geez, some people.

Re: Funny thing happened to me today...

There is nothing wrong with your truck, I would pay $2000.00 for it without haggling and I would keep the rust (which is very minimal) comments to myself. If he saw my SWB K10, he would think it should be condemned but it still gets down the road.

Re: Funny thing happened to me today...

Your price was very fair- what a clown.

In some instances I can see why a person would complain about the rust or condition. I had that happen recently on a 2wd parts truck- guy said minimal rust and straight body. I pulled up and could see the rust and dents. Yours doesn't have rust compared to this one though. If I wouldn't have been able to talk him out of the decent grille and tailgate loose in the box, it would been a total waste of time and gas. Floor was gone, bed was rusted through on inside, visor area was gone, no supports, etc. When someone claims to have something they don't is when they should expect complaints, not when they see a nice 4x4 for 2k. You could sell that all day long in the midwest for 2k.

Re: Funny thing happened to me today...

I think your story is not too far from what usually happens...some people think they're the "wheeler dealer" and they're going to talk you out of a $2,000.00 truck for $500.00!!

Here's how one of my deals went: A friend shows up with another "friend" and his friend is interested in buying one of my trucks. The truck was solid, motor was tight, automatic was good, the tin was excellent. So "How much do you want for the truck?" "Well, I told everybody I wanted $3,500.00, but since you're a friend of my friend, Mikey Mechanic, I'll let it go for $3,000.00. That's about what I have in it and I want the money for another truck!" "Well, will you take $2,500.00 for it?" "No, the price is $3,000.00 and that's a fair price!"

After asking me the fifth time if I would take less than $3,000.00 they take off. The guy comes back and says he's ready to buy the truck. I told him I would be glad to sell it to him for my $3,750.00 asking price. Needless to say, the rest of the negotiations didn't go well.

I don't mind haggling with someone. Unfortunately, "horsetrading" as we always referred to it, is a lost art. The guy should have been more reasonable with his comments!

I was selling a plane a while ago, and met "the buyer" at the airport. I needed to get it gone, and was willing to take a big hit. The seller asked what my bottom bottom line was, so I told him $17k if you write the check right now. He told me all about "the one down in El Centro" going for $13k, and offered me $14k. I said he should fly down to El Centro and buy it.

That same night, he called and said "okay, I'll buy it for $17." I reminded him that it was $17 when we were at the airport, but that we aren't at the airport any more - now are we? He pleaded and begged, said he'd wire the money - said he'd buy it for $19, then $20, and on up to $22k, and told me he was sorry he didn't take my offer, but "that's just how I negotiate." I told him I don't like the way he negotiates, and that his "negotiating" just lost him one hell of a sweet deal.

I ended up parting it out. It was a little sad to take apart a nice flying airplane, but I wound up with about $25k for the parts; but more importantly, I didn't waste any more of my time with "that's-just-the-way-I-negotiate" people.

Re: Funny thing happened to me today...

I've haggled with people about buying and selling things before. I really don't know what that guy was expecting. Either way I was having a good time listening to him cry about some rust that wasn't even there (in a few places he did). I wasn't even gonna sell it to him after he started all his crying.

I'm really thinking about keeping it though, but we'll see what happens.
