Gauge Cluster

I know this has been hit on, just can't finder a clear answer.... i have a 67 c10, behind the gauge cluster there are 3 posts that seem to be right behind the fuel gauge. is there something suppose to be connected there? if so, where does it run? I noticed one of the posts is hot. thnx

by the way fuel gauge does not work.

The posts are connected by the circuit board strips and the hot strip goes to the no 7 terminal on the plug connector. the other one goes to the no. 4 connector. The hot one is pink and the other one is tan or light brown and is the sender wire from the fuel tank through the fuse panel. If you disconnect the tan wire at the fuel tank the gauge should go to the 3:00 position and if you ground the sender wire the gauge should go to empty. This is with the dash plug inserted and the key on.
